STAYING CONNECTED INITIATIVE
Defying COVID With Virtual Inspiration & Connections
When the pandemic forced the cancellation of the Summer 2020 Conference, a special initiative created a season of critical connections, timely fun, and something to look forward to for members of VWD Connect Foundation across the country.
After making the difficult decision to cancel the conference, it didn’t take long for VWD Connect Foundation to launch a multi-faceted “Staying Connected Initiative”.
With lots of moving parts the ambitious program deployed social media and the ZOOM platform to stage a robust series of virtual events.

Every Tuesday and Saturday from April through May, Members tuned into a variety of custom designed ZOOMS; a rich series of topics ranging from home infusion support conversations, education sessions, game nights, ladies socials, and meaningful discussions on isolation and other issues bearing down during the quarantine imposed by the pandemic.
A “Men’s Only” night was titled “What’s in Ed’s Head?”. We’re not sure anyone guessed that answer!
And then there were the random “Pop-Up” Zooms; last minute events just for the fun of it!
Weekly emails would invite members to ZOOM in and participate in programs about coping with stress, or spend an hour in a Q&A with our very own Dr. Chris Walsh.
As part of the initiative a special “Members Only” Facebook page was launched.
STAFF PROVIDED TECHNICAL SUPPORT!
When COVID brought many of us working at home, it was safe to say we were all pretty new at ZOOM. The VWD Connect Foundation Staff, however, were with us through the spring to provide technical support and make sure we got connected.
New ideas for programs kept coming as spring went along and now the Foundation hosts regularly monthly programs including:
-
Parent Connection
-
Kid Connect Clubs
-
Special Event Education Nights
-
Trivia Nights
-
Book Club
-
Craft Club
Thanks to you, our Members, we all kept connected and perhaps more comforted during this difficult time.
