We’re so excited to be hosting our eighth annual conference! Please read on for details about travel, registration, and other frequently asked questions. We hope to see you in July!

 

Conference FAQs

1. Where is the Conference?
The Conference is being held at the West Palm Beach Marriott, 1001 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, Fl.  The hotel is located a couple of miles from the Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).  The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service between PBI and the hotel.

2. Who can attend?
Patients who are Foundation Members may attend the Conference along with one (1) companion.  If the patient is under the age of 18, two (2) companions may also attend but one must be the parent/legal guardian of the patient.

3. What if I am a severe VWD patient but not a member of the Foundation?
You must be a Foundation Member to attend.  Membership is free.  Please contact Jeanette Cesta if you are interested in joining!

4. What does the Foundation provide?
The Foundation will provide all meals and conference materials for the patient and their companion(s).  The Foundation will also provide one (1) hotel room for the party for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (July 19, 20 & 21) nights.

5. What if additional family members or friends want to attend with the patient?
We offer an additional paying guest registration option.  The registration fee is calculated to cover the costs of the guest’s meals:
Age 0-2       Free
Age 3-12     $450
Over 12       $700

Additionally, if the additional guest is 12 or under, we will provide childcare services if selected during registration.

Additional guests are responsible for their own hotel lodgings.  The patient may include them in their complimentary room or if additional hotel rooms are needed, they may be booked directly with the hotel at a group rate of $162/night using this link provided upon registration.

6. How do additional guests register?
Once the patient has registered, they will receive a confirmation email.  A link for registering additional guests will be in the confirmation email.  Registration fees for additional guests may be paid by using the Donate Button on the VWD Connect website, or with a check payable to VWD Connect Foundation mailed to

Please notify Jeanette once payment has been completed to ensure the appropriate additional guest is credited for the payment.

7. What if I want to come in earlier or stay longer?
The Foundation has contracted with the hotel to hold a limited number of rooms for the three days before and three days after the Conference dates.  These rooms are available at the group rate of $162 until gone, so make your reservations as soon as possible.  Important Note:  Be sure to email Jeanette your hotel reservation immediately after booking to ensure the reservation(s) get linked to the room the Foundation is providing.  If the rooms are not linked, you will most likely have to switch hotel rooms mid-stay.

8. Is there a deadline for booking additional rooms or extended room nights?
Yes!  To be eligible for the group rate of $162/night rooms must be reserved by June 20, 2024.

9. I am a Foundation Member who really wants to attend but cannot afford the travel expenses. What can I do?
Please investigate local options for assistance.  Many areas have charities to help with these kinds of needs. If you are involved in your local chapter of NBDF or HFA, they may help.  Also check with your Hemophilia Treatment Center for assistance.

If there are no options available, the Foundation has a limited Travel Assistance Fund.  Please contact Jeanette to discuss.  The Foundation’s goal is that no patient who wants to attend will be prohibited by travel costs!

10. I am a severe VWD patient but I live outside of the U.S. Can I attend the conference?
Yes! We now offer an international membership, which would be required to attend the Conference. International membership is free. Contact Jeanette to get connected! *Please note that all educational content at the Conference is geared to a U.S. audience.
